Particle Harmony
Particle Harmony is an unknown part of the legendary shmup genre where player controls a space ship used to fight against huge number of enemies. Nowadays the genre is quite dead and only popular in underground indie scene. Still, I felt that I had something to give to this genre of games.
Without any background story or any other things that might ruin the gaming pleasure, the players is thrown into a space ship. Before you notice, the screen is almost full of deadly enemy ships. As game progresses, there'll be more and more of these enemies and they'll be coming in harder formations. Once you destroy enemies, they leave behind floating powerup balls. By collecting those powerup balls you can get something like a better cannon or a bullet shield.
Particle Harmony has quite different way of controlling the ship comparing to what we're used to in this genre. The ship is controlled by mouse. With the left mouse button the ship shoots and with the right it moves towards the mouse cursor. You can adjust the moving speed of the ship with the distance between the ship and the cursor.
Since the game is endless, I put in a high scores to keep it interesting. Unfortunately, I've heard that a friend of mine has almost doubled my personal high score (which is about 190 million while I'm writing this). Every time the powerup meter reaches 100%, the player recieves a temporary boos and the multiplier is increased by one. So collecting those balls is highly recommended in terms of score and survival.
Not including the music, everything in the game is made by me. The song in the game is made by my class mate who is an ambient artist known at least as Mooma.
